2025-04-29 - This sector module is next in line for insertion in the tokamak pit. The assembly suspended in vertical tooling is composed of vacuum vessel sector #6 at the centre, which is surrounded by a thin layer of thermal shielding and two toroidal field coils that form an enveloping superstructure. This 1,200-tonne module will be transferred into the assembly pit in July.

2025-04-28 - A second European sector is on its way to ITER. After leaving the Walter Tosto facility in Ortona, Italy, it has made its way to France and was onboarded today for transport across the inland sea of Berre. From there, the 440-tonne sector of the ITER vacuum vessel will travel by road to the ITER site.

2025-04-27 - ITER and the potential of fusion energy are represented at the STARMUS festival in La Palma, Spain, in April 2025. At STARMUS, world-class organizations, scientists—many of them Nobel Prize laureates—astronauts and leading experts meet around the objective of “engaging humanity in the biggest questions of our time."

2025-04-24 - The ITER Business Forum returns in 2025. The eighth edition is held in Marseille, France, on 23-25 April, attracting 1,200 participants representing 630 companies. Private sector fusion firms attend for the first time.

2025-04-24 - This top correction coil feeder element has been loaded onto a barge in Hefei for transfer to Taicang Port on the Yangtze River estuary. Procured by the Chinese Domestic Agency, magnet feeders provide current and coolant to the different ITER magnet systems.

2025-04-24 - The 2025 ITER Business Forum in Marseille opens on 24 April with a plenary session given by ITER Director-General Pietro Barabaschi on ITER progress and key insights into the new ITER baseline. At least 1,100 people are attending the three-day event (23-25 April) focused on business opportunities in fusion energy.

2025-04-23 - The 2nd ITER Private Sector Fusion Workshop concludes on 23 April after two days of conferences and networking at ITER Headquarters. More than 300 people take part—including startup company representatives, suppliers, researchers, advocates, and investors. Many went on to attend the ITER Business Forum in Marseille (23-25 April).

2025-04-22 - A mirror prototype for the wide-angle viewing system (WAVS) diagnostic undergoes thermal cycling tests at Spain's Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial (INTA). WAVS, which is under the procurement responsibility of Europe, will capture visible and infrared light from the divertor and the main chamber wall to provide real-time measurements of surface temperature. 2025-04-22 - At least half of the participants to the 2d ITER Private Sector Fusion Workshop in April take the opportunity to spend a few hours visiting the ITER plant. During the hop-on/hop-off tour, dozens of guides share specific expertise in critical fusion systems (cryogenics, power supply, heating) and walk guests through the machine assembly activities currently underway.

2025-04-22 - The 2nd annual Private Sector Fusion Workshop opens at ITER Headquarters on 22 April 2025. "What we have discussed with the ITER Council, and what we intend to do at the same time as our baseline job, is to help the private sector in every way that we can," says ITER Organization Director-General Pietro Barabaschi. 2025-04-14 - The module commences its descent into the 30-metre-deep tokamak pit. This last phase of the transfer is also the most delicate as the “pendulum effect” increases with the length of the cables.
